Slow internet isn't always a provider issue. Try these steps to optimize your home network before calling for support.
Unplug your router from the power for a full 30 seconds. This clears the device's temporary memory and forces a fresh connection to the local exchange. It fixes about 50% of connection drops.
Wi-Fi signals travel outward and downward. Ensure your router is in a central, open location. Avoid placing it inside cupboards, behind TVs, or near large mirrors which reflect and weaken the signal.
Modern routers have two bands. Use 5GHz if you are in the same room as the router for maximum speed. Use 2.4GHz if you are further away or have several walls between you and the device.
Sometimes your ISP's "phonebook" is slow. Changing your DNS settings to Google (8.8.8.8) or Cloudflare (1.1.1.1) can significantly decrease the time it takes for websites to start loading.
If you're still experiencing drops or slow speeds, you might need a mesh system or network optimization. We can help you configure your home network for peak performance.
